The Challenge
The new finish tower at Nathan Benderson Park is considered “the best in the world. The tower, which meets FISA’s extremely strict requirements. The 25,000 total square feet, house park offices, event officials, and media . It also features meeting rooms, community space, and expansive outdoor terraces for race viewing. The 102′ structure is supported by pilings that are driven 70 feet to bedrock.
The Results
Due to a compressed schedule, cooperation & flexibility by all contractors on site was critical to the overall success of the project. Scheduling was a top priority as our crew increased in size to over 15 technicians during critical points. The six story finish line tower was completed on schedule for hosting the 2017 World Rowing Championships.
The Skills

- Finish Line Lighting System, exterior and stairwell lighting.
- An emergency generator was installed to provide power for critical systems should FPL falter.
- A lightning control system as well as LED lighting makes this state of the art facility extremely energy efficient.
- Lightning Protection 2005 system was installed to protect the structure from a direct strike of lightning.
